ADVENTURE OPPORTUNITIES

  • JP2 Project
    This is a third-party study abroad program in Krakow, Poland. They also offer 10-day trips for high school students. Their courses are centered on JPII! From them: "The mission of the John Paul II Project is to help young people become builders of a civilization of love and truth, through programs that enable them to live in the example of Saint John Paul II. In collaboration with the Archdiocese of Kraków, we have created uniquely Catholic abroad programs in Kraków, Poland that shape the whole person, while immersing students in the life of John Paul II. Through classes, community life, prayer, pilgrimages, extra-curricular activities, and embracing responsibility, participants receive a holistic formation experience that enriches them in their intellectual, professional, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual dimensions."   • Camp Wojtyla
    This summer camp is located outside of Boulder, Colorado, in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. It is a high-adventure camp for highschoolers and middle schoolers. There is a backpacking team of 5 counselors and a summer staff of 35ish counselors. Each counselor is a summer missionary and support raises their summer salary. Campers sleep inside teepees, but counselors sleep out under the stars outside the teepees. www.camp-w.com
  • Creatio
    Creatio is a young adult outdoor ministry located in Denver, CO. They run service trips, adventures, and pilgrimages all year long, from snow-shoeing to desert-hiking! Their mission is to "To encounter the beauty of creation and the Creator through service to the poor, outdoor adventure, and environmental stewardship." creatio.org
  • Family Missions Company
    This is a Catholic apostolate of lay people, single and married, who work with the Church all over the globe to serve the poor and preach the Word. They have full-time missionaries and they run week-long mission trips as well. www.familymissionscompany.com
  • NET Ministries
    NET stands for National Evangelization Team. It is a mission company that sends 150 or so young people (18-28) on the road and into parishes and schools to "challenge young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the life of the Church". NET Missionaries fundraise for their 9 months of service. They are trained in discipleship, small group leading, and public speaking. They are sorted into teams of 9-12 people and sent either on a route all over the United States, or to a parish to run the youth ministry programs and reach out to the whole community. They stay in host homes. They live out of one backpack, one suitcase, and one Gospel message. NET is also in Australia, Ireland, Scottland, and Canada. www.netusa.org
  • The Culture Project
    The Culture Project has different mission teams of young adults who proclaim the message of human dignity and chastity to renew the culture. They work mostly in Ohio, California, Pennsylvania, and Texas, but are growing every year! Their missionaries fundraise their salary, and live on teams. They are trained in a variety of talks on human dignity and sexual integrity. They speak to highschoolers, middle schoolers, and even college students. www.restoreculture.com
  • World Youth Alliance (WYA)
    From them: "The World Youth Alliance works to understand and speak about the idea of the human person. We work with young people around the world to build a culture that supports and nurtures the dignity of each human person. Our work can be divided into three program areas: Advocacy, Education and Culture." WYA was founded in 1999 when foundress Anna Halpine stood up for human dignity at the United Nations. She founded WYA as a response to the need for advocacy to the UN and education for the youth of the world. WYA has internships over the summer in New York (housing provided, no fundraising, no stipend). They also offer internships on-campus for people starting WYA chapters in their college community. www.wya.net
  • Christian Appalachian Project
    CAP's mission is building hope, transforming lives, and sharing Christ’s love through service in Appalachia. CAP runs summer camps for children who would otherwise have no way to have a vacation or any type of camp experience. Counselors volunteer to keep camp free for the kids. About 1,000 children get to come to camp each summer. The camps are located in the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky. www.christianapp.org
  • Youth With a Mission -Next Wave
    YWAM - Next Wave is a nautical mission program! ON THE SEA! Missionaries go through the School of Navigation and Seamanship to become fully equipped to navigate and sailboat around the sea! They also put through Discipleship Training Schools to learn preaching, small group leading, and other mission-oriented schools. Locations include Greece, Micronesia, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Australia or Europe! www.ywamnextwave.org
